Wrecking Ball is several cuts above every other character in terms of mobility. No character was so powerful as to traverse the entire map in five seconds. Forgoing years of arguments over Reddit and memes on Twitter, these characters’ movement abilities usually feel well-balanced and thought out. Junkrat can launch himself with landmines - every 16 seconds. These characters’ extraordinary abilities do come with limitations. Considering this and my penchant for 2D and 3D platformers, I’m left with no doubts as to my taste in Overwatch vessels. Each of them have near-unbridled access to an entire dimension unavailable to most other characters. Mobility has always been a pinnacle of Overwatch play, but these three are arguably the most vertically capable Heroes on the original roster (minus Pharah). For me, that breath of fresh air comes in the form of Wrecking Ball (aka Hammond) and the turbulent effect he’s had on the game.Īs my personal statistics currently stand, I’ve invested most of my playtime in D.Va, Lucio, and Junkrat. So if you’re a frequent player - especially since launch in 2016 - you may feel the game has little left to offer.įortunately for sub-200 hour folks like myself, Overwatch can always feel new again with some time away paired with a change in Hero selection. Blizzard’s last major update was over a year ago, the stream counts have sat below 30k on Twitch for months, and Team 4 has most likely been all-hands-on-deck with Overwatch 2 during lockdown. There’s a lot of chatter about Overwatch getting stale, and some arguments are valid. “Jumping back into Overwatch” has never felt so appropriate.
